\nGianfranco Notargiacomo was born in Rome on 12 November 1945.<\/p>\n

In 1971 the first personal exhibition at the Galleria La Tartaruga in Rome. Numerous exhibitions over the decade, again at La Tartaruga and La Salita in Rome, which mark the evolution of research towards a return to painting and the forms of sculpture.<\/p>\n

With Take o della Scultura, 1979 and with Tempesta e ASSATA, 1980, (Gall. La Salita), his language takes on that definitive inclination towards the abstraction of impetus and gesture, which distinguishes him.<\/p>\n

Among his personal exhibitions: Castel Sant’Elmo in Naples (1981); Diego Aragona Pignatelli Museum of Naples (1983); Royal Palace of Milan (1998); Galleria Marchetti, in Artefiera 2000, Bologna, Pavilion 31; Museum of Rome in Palazzo Braschi (2004); Aldobrandini stables in Frascati (2007); Borges Cultural Center of Buenos Aires (2007); GNAM National Gallery of Modern Art, Rome 2009; Forte Malatesta, Ascoli Piceno (2013); GAM Galleria G.Carandente, Palazzo Collicola, Spoleto (2019).<\/p>\n

Among the group exhibitions: the VIII (1973) and the XI (1980) Biennale de Paris; Italian Art 1960-1982, Hayward Gallery London (1982); Anniottanta, Galleria Civica di Bologna (1985); Italian art 1960-1985, Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt (1985); Italian Art, Museum of Sao Paulo, Brazil (1986); Postastration, Milan Rotonda di via Besana (1986); Sydney Biennial (1988); XIII Quadrennial of Art of Rome (1999); Work in progress, MACRO (Rome 2000); Homage to Plinio De Martiis, Calcografia Nazionale, Rome (2004); Italian Art 1968 \u2013 2007. Painting, Palazzo Reale, Milan (2007); 70s Art in Rome, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome (2013).<\/p>\n

He is in Italian Artists of the 20th Century at the Farnesina, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

He was invited to the XL Venice Biennale in 1982 (Italian Pavilion), to the XLII Venice Biennale, in 1986 (Outdoor sculpture) and to the 54th Venice Biennale, in 2011 (Italian Pavilion \u2013 Venice Arsenale).<\/p>\n

In 2015 he was appointed Master Emeritus by the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. In the same year he received the Franco Cuomo International Award for Art in the Senate.<\/p>\n

In 2016 he was appointed Academician of the RomaTre University.<\/p>\n

In 1971, after his first solo exhibition, he was called to teach at the new Academy of Fine Arts in L’Aquila.<\/p>\n

Since 1979 he has held the chair of Painting, first in Florence, then from 1999 to 2011 in Rome.<\/div>
